ABOUT THE DESIGNER

SUGEY M.

Hello! I'm Sugey, the face behind BZ Florals. My enduring love for creativity, design and flowers traces back to my childhood. As my mother’s 5 year old assistant, I helped in the curation of event decor, funeral flowers, niño Jesus (porcelin baby Jesus) clothes, to propagating plants and selling them around our town in Mexico.

As I grew up, I started to help my mother more and more in her businesses. This developed my interest for design and creative work. This passion led me to pursue a career in Architecture, which has fulfilled my passion for design and problem solving on a bigger scale. Although I love my career, after getting married and designing all my wedding flowers with my mother, I found extreme joy in working with flowers.

While I continue to design buildings for Austin residents, this next chapter in my life includes creating spaces for my clients and their guests but with flowers. BZ Florals is an extension of myself and everything I stand for - connection, creation, experience, and genuineness.

01. Human

I was one of those lucky people who married my best friend. We met in high school and have been together for more than a decade.

02. Non-human

My dog, Archie Valdo who has been a part of my life for 2 years now. We share a love for the outdoors, hanging out with friends, and being silly.

03. Pleasures

Baking, cooking new recipes, binge watching thrillers and shows on Netflix, trying new restaurants in town, game nights, and I recently started playing pickle ball which I love!

04. Past Time

I am the happiest when I am surrounded by family and friends. Whether it’s at my parents house eating gorditas with my siblings, or a Friday night with friends playing UNO, I always enjoy and cherish these moments

05. God

06. Part of My Job

Seeing an idea on paper transform into a reality before my eyes, and watching my clients and their guests experience a space that was created entirely for them is by far the most exhilarating part of what I do, not just in architecture but also at BZ Florals.

    Who is BZ Florals?

    BZ Florals was founded in 2023 with a mission to revolutionize the flower industry for life celebrations. Named after my mother, Bertha Zuniga and her love for flowers, plants, and design, my husband and I started this company. During the planning of our wedding, we experienced how expensive & complicated the fresh flower industry could be, BZ Florals was born.

    Our mission is to surpass your expectations and wow your guests using the highest quality silk, real-touch, and dried flowers! We custom design event florals for every occasion, specializing in weddings. We believe that every bride & special occasion deserve to have beautiful, one-of-a-kind floral arrangements that are customized to their unique style without the stress and high price tag that fresh flowers have.

    We are passionate about creating every event a captivating floral experience that is not only visually captivating, but sustainable and waste-free. Silk florals are long-lasting, reusable, more energy efficient, and they won’t wilt or die. For this reason they are cost-effective and help lessen the amount of waste we add to the landfills every day.
